What Color Is This? identifies colors from your camera or photos and matches them against a database of 30,000 named colors. It also provides color harmonies and colorblind-accessible palettes.
The data controller for this app is Bridge City Lab LLC, registered in Oregon, USA. Contact: luke@lukesteuber.com.
This app does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Period.
The app accesses your camera and photos only to sample colors. Images are processed locally in your browser or on your device. No images are uploaded to any server. When color matching uses a server request, the request contains only the sampled color value (for example, #3A7BC8), not the source image.
Colors you save are stored in your browser's localStorage on your device. They never leave your device unless you explicitly export them. The app has no user accounts, no cloud sync, and no server-side storage of user data.
The iOS and Android apps contain no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. The website at whatcoloristhis.one (and the alternate "that" / "colour" mirrors) uses GoatCounter, a privacy-respecting page counter for aggregate traffic measurement. It is not used for advertising profiles or cross-site behavioral tracking.
If you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Because this app collects no personal data, there is nothing to access, correct, or erase. To raise any question or request, email luke@lukesteuber.com. I aim to respond within 30 days.
I do not sell or share your personal information, in any sense covered by the California Consumer Privacy Act or California Privacy Rights Act. I do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of any sale or share. This app collects no personal information, so there is nothing to sell, share, or delete. To make a verified consumer request, email luke@lukesteuber.com.
Saved colors in your iOS, Android, or web browser stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. There is no user-account database or cloud sync associated with this app. If the website receives routine server logs or aggregate analytics records, they are retained only as needed for operations, security, and traffic measurement.
The app communicates with its own first-party API server for color matching. The public website also loads GoatCounter for privacy-focused aggregate analytics. Aside from that website analytics script, no user data is sent to advertising networks or data brokers.
This app does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
